I have to admit that I did not realize that July was Disability Pride Month. How did I not know about this??? In my rushed research on the topic, I've learned that this is not a nationally recognized holiday, but it is celebrated nationwide. I learned more through watching some really inspiring media made by people with disabilities for Disability Pride Month. I also learned about a disability rights activist named Emily Ladau who has a podcast and blog on which she discusses the experiences of people with disabilities. She also has a book coming out called Demystifying Disability: What to Know, What to Say, and How to be an Ally. Sounds like a book I'd like to read!
